DSC00055-1.JPGHello and Welcome! My name is Lynn Shafer, and I have worked as an occupational therapist at the Capital Area Intermediate Unit (CAIU) for 14 years. I graduated from Misericordia University with a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, and I also completed a Post Professional Pediatric Certificate Program through Misericordia. During my time at the CAIU, I have worked primarily in the preschool program, providing integrated occupational therapy (OT) services to children in CAIU preschool classrooms, as well as a variety of inclusive educational settings in the community. I have also been a part of the Preschool Autism assessment team at the CAIU. In 2008 (the year my first child was born), I transitioned from working full time to part time. I currently work with children at day cares and preschools, students who receive home based services, and children who attend a play group at our main office in Enola.

I reside in Camp Hill with my husband, Matthew, our 3 children, Gabriel (7), Gwendolyn (6), and Gavin (4), and our little Jack Russell mix named Gus.

I have always had a passion for working with children, and feel fortunate to have the opportunity to get to know and work with so many special children each day. My goal is to provide caring and individualized services to each child and his or her family. In collaboration with members of the educational team, I hope to create a fun and challenging therapeutic experience that supports each child’s strengths and needs. I look forward to working with you and your child this year!
